In 2007 we put the first application in to the Pet Plan Charitable trust for money towards a van. In 2008 they granted us £3,000 on the understanding that we would raise the rest. At that time we needed £10,000 and wanted to buy a Citroen Nemo. As David is wheelchair bound we needed a van that was automatic transmission so our choices were limited. In 2009 a grant came through from the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust for £6,000 - we almost had enough so we went to look at the Nemo. To our dismay the drivers seat was far too high for David to reach so we had to look at other models. The only model that suited was the AstraVan - but it was another £8,000 more that we had originally anticipated. Vauxhaull agree to knock a massive 25% off the price if we could place the order by the end of August 2009. A public appeal fell flat but thanks to a dear friend of Bulldog Rescue, Mr Alan Russell stepped in at the last minute and gave us the £6,000 we were short. To say we were flabbergasted was an understatement. So in August 2009 the order was placed and on Friday 1 October the van was collected from the showroom. Thanks to Cathedral Signs Ltd, it was sign written on Monday 5 October and began active service on the 6th October 2009 PLEASE HELP US KEEP IT ON THE ROAD Email Us If you want to sponsor the running of the van
