The rehoming of
bulldogs who, for whatever reason, can no longer stay with their current owners. We
are not a "dogs home" or a "shelter" and run entirely on a voluntary
basis covering the entire UK.
We are the only official Bulldog Rescue and Re-homing service for Great Britain. Co-ordinated from West Sussex, we cover the entire mainland UK on a network of foster homes and volunteers, making sure that when a bulldog needs to find a new home we are there to ensure his new home is exactly the right home for him. Please browse around this web site to find out more about the bulldog breed and the breed rescue

Obtaining a bulldog through rescue does not mean you will get
a free bulldog as we do request that all adopters pay an adoption fee to allow our service
to continue. Our adoption fees vary in accordance with the dogs age and state of
health.
Wanting a bulldog does not necessarily mean
you will get one. Every dog will require a different kind of home and we make every effort
to ensure we get the right home first time.
We almost never have puppies - the majority of bulldogs
looking for a new home are between the ages of 3 and 7 and may not be "perfect".
By taking in a rescue bulldog you may be required to also accept the baggage he could
bring with him.
You will not be allowed to breed or show your rescue bulldog,
nor will you be given any KC paperwork.
You will need to complete an
application form before your
name can be placed on our waiting list, subsequently, before a dog can be placed with you,
you will either receive a home visit from one of our volunteers or you will need to supply
us with the telephone number of a vet that can vouch for you.
Upon a rescue bulldog being place in your care you will be
required to sign an adoption form agreeing to never sell or give your bulldog to a third
party, if at any point throughout the rest of your bulldog's life you cannot keep him, we
will take him back or arrange further re-homing for him. The dog will remain rescue
property until the adoption process has been executed. All placements are made with the
view that the arrangement is permanent.
We do not operate our waiting list on a first come first
served basis as every dog that comes up for rehoming will have his individual needs
assessed so we can attempt to find the right home for that dog and his own particular
needs. These dog may be here with us (West Sussex), in one of our foster homes around the
country or they may still be with their current owners, depending on the current situation
for that dog.
We cannot tell you how long you will be on the waiting list
for as it depends on what dogs come in, where they are and their reasons for needing
re-homing, being on the list does not guarantee you will even get a bulldog, the demand
far out ways the supply as thankfully this breed does not have a serious rescue problem.
We encourage all our rescue families to stay in touch with us
and to ensure that un-neutered dogs are spayed or castrated as soon as is practically
possible.
Where possible all dogs will be microchipped
You must be over 18 and be a permanent resident within
mainland UK

Contact us on
0871 200 2450, we can help you sort through any
problems you may be experiencing or make the arrangements to rehome your dog in a vetted
pet home.
Please ensure your dog is a Bulldog before you call,
unfortunately we cannot rehome any other bull breed, American Bulldogs or any crossbred
bulldog (ie: Victorian, Sussex, Old Tyme, Olde English etc).
All bulldogs re-homed via bulldog rescue will subsequently
become our responsibility for life. Adopters are required to sign and agree that they
shall never sell, breed or show with their bulldog and rescue will take him back if at any
point he cannot stay in his new home. Any microchip present will be transferred to Bulldog
Rescue ensuring we can keep an eye on your dog for life.
By using our re-homing service you are not only actively
supporting the rescue but also helping to ensure that we have the funds available for
those Bulldogs that need that little bit of extra care and attention.
Please don't dump him at the nearest animal shelter, we can
also take in dogs that owners choose to gift into rescue. We have experienced foster homes
around the country willing to take in those that cannot stay at home for whatever reason.
Please don't be afraid to call us, even if things have got
out of hand, our priority will always be for the bulldog.

The Rescue & Re-homing of Pure Bred Bulldogs who - for what ever reason - cannot stay where they are. We will do our very best find the right home for each dog that passes through the rescue system from our extensive list of people right across the country willing to offer a second chance to this most loveable of breeds, we will stand by that dog for the rest of his life offering support, education and advice to his new owner whenever it is required.
We also keep the lost and stolen list/web site so please inform us if your bulldog goes missing, we are in touch with dog wardens and other lost/stolen pet organisations and have an extensive email address book meaning we can get the word out in minutes.

To make sure that should life not quite go according to plan there is always someone there to make sure the future is better. Our aim is to always do what is best for the bulldog, on occasion this responsibility is incredibly heartbreaking, thankless and very demanding but there are also many rewarding and joyous moments too.

Only a few bulldogs end up in rescue because they have been abused, mis-treated or abandoned, the majority of bulldogs looking for a second chance are simply victims of circumstance - ie: divorce, a new job or a new baby in the family. All the owner wants is a good home and rather than take the risk of an advert in the local free ad paper, they allow rescue to rehome for them.

Thanks to our dedicated team of Network Volunteers across the country we can always be ready to act quickly when required, home check potential new homes and supply short stay foster care if required. Bulldog Rescue operates entirely on a voluntary basis, the co-ordinator and all the network volunteers do this because we want to, none of us are paid.

Adoption fees, fund raising and donations are our only means of funding - every bulldog that simply needs a new home will help us to pay for those requiring veterinary treatment, transporting or fostering. Our adoption fee is nominal, regardless of how much we had to spend on the dog before he could be re-homed and it is these adoption fees that ensure we have sufficient funds available to do the job properly.

Donations and fund raising events are always appreciated as are the efforts of all of those in the Volunteer Network, if you think you can help or even offer a bulldog a second chance please contact us or browse around our web site.
