FOUND A BULLDOG? You must - by law You must initially check the dog for a collar tag and/or microchip and if possible return him to his owner as soon as possible. If you are unable to identify the owner you must inform the local Dog Control Officer, who’s details will be listed at your local authority under Environmental Health. They will most likely come to collect the dog from you or if out of hours may request that the dog be taken to a designated kennel. The Police are no longer responsible for dealing with stray dogs. You must not keep, sell, rehome or abandon the dog without informing the authorities. Finders are able to request to keep the dog if the owner is not found within 7 days but are required to keep the dog for a minimum of 28 days (failure to comply is a criminal offence) and should be aware that they may be required to relinquish the dog should the rightful owner be found, even after a 28 day period in some cases. Otherwise dogs that are unclaimed after 7 days will be either sold, rehomed or destroyed by the local authority.
LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND DOG WARDENS CAN HAVE ACCESS TO OUR MICROCHIP DATA BASE WHICH INCLUDES DETAILS OF MISSING BULLDOGS AS WELL AS BULLDOGS THAT MUST BE RETURNED TO BULLDOG RESCUE OR TO THEIR BREEDER.

LOST A BULLDOG? Report your bulldog missing and we will instantly inform:
Plus everyone on those sites will cross post to people they know getting the word out to thousands of people in seconds! STRAY DOG LAW ... Lost a dog?
One thing that many people are not aware of is that you only have 7 days in which to claim a stray. In some cases the dogs are put to sleep at the end of that period, in others they are released to rescue centres or rehomed, so don’t waste time, inform as many people as you can as quickly as you can. |

To: BulldogRescue@btinternet.com Subject: Re: MISSING BULLDOG 09/3 Hi Tanya, |
This
is Ruby, she's a red and white spayed bitch with white markings down one
side of her face and a cherry eye. She went missing from the garden of
her home in Delves lane, County Durham at about 2.30pm on the afternoon
of Monday 26 January 2009.Ruby is 12 years old, not good on her legs and can't hear too well so needed to be found quickly, thankfully she was found the next day and the owner wishes to thank everyone that helped look for her |

Winston was found the day he went missing laying in the road outside his farm, but lack of communication and a delay in reporting him missing meant that he did his 7 days as a stray in Foal Farm kennels and was then rehomed to the person who found him, who then saw him on this web site and has today given him back to his owner. |
Winston
is an 8 year old white, male, castrated bulldog who went missing from
his farm in the Bromley area of Kent (BR2 8HG) on Saturday 3rd January
2009. Winston is deaf and only has one tooth left on the bottom row. He
is not microchipped. The owner is unsure if he has wandered off or was
stolen but is assuming he is stolen due to the remote location of their
farm. |

Hugo (left) is 2 and Lucy (right) is 3 Both dogs are fawn and white and both dogs are microchipped These 2 were taken one hour before 0812 and 0813 in the Weoley Castle of Birmingham (B29) which is about five miles from Billesley. Two Jamaican men were seen in the garden by the daughter who was in the house alone, after she heard a commotion. They had walked through an open door and kicked through the door to the kennels. It is thought they had come looking for the pups as there had been phone calls in the morning asking for directions. Thankfully both the pups and the dam were in the house but instead they took Hugo and Lucy who refused to go with them but were dragged away and put into a silver 5 door Astra, this is the same car that is thought to have been involved in the theft below. The frightened daughter called the police who turned up 2 hours later!!! Her boyfriend did give chase but was scared off by the bigger of the two men |
|
|
Grace (left) is 7 months and Nelly (right) is 4 years old. Both disappeared from their home in Billesley, Birmingham on the afternoon of Wednesday 3 December 2008, at this point the owner was unsure if they have been stolen or had escaped from the garden, a neighbour later reported seeing a car reverse into the drive at about 2pm and a coloured man putting the dogs into the car |
|
|
Following a police chase involving one of the stolen cars, Buzz was found abandoned in a nearby park. It has been assumed that they've tried to run with him but found him too heavy and subsequently dropped him. A gang of local kids were tormenting him but he seems to be in very good health except a slight limp and a bad case of fleas. Buzz's owner and Breeder would like to thank everyone that helped, especially our Liverpool volunteer Jenna who made Buzz's theft very big news in the area. |

![]() Thanks to the massive local media coverage and the publicity this case got via the internet and local TV, a neighbour tipped off the police the following day. A police raid on a house not far from where Betty Boop went missing found her safe and well. The culprit is already known to the police and tagged and will probably now go to prison. Anne and Clive would like to thank everyone who forwarded the original email and helped get Betty home safe and well.
ORIGINAL POST This is Betty Boop, she is a puppy in this photo but was stolen from her kennel aged 5 months old between 9pm and 11pm on Wednesday 7th May 2008. A minimum of 2 people lifted her over a 6ft high concrete wall. She has very distinctive markings. She has a long tail and although is predominantly brindle in colour, she has a white tip to her right ear and a white sock on her front left foot, the other foot has a few white toes. Schmicheal & Ozzy - the famous Coronation Street dogs live at this kennel, they were both left behind maybe the thieves didn't know what they were doing as there are other dogs there too who were also left behind. Betty Boop was stolen from the Taneside area of Cheshire (Nr Stockport) |

Just to say we now have 3 of the female puppies back home, 2 are confirmed dead, and the other female we are almost certain perished too, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who assisted in searching for my puppies, it has been a long and treacherous journey for my babies, and I can’t explain just how sad and happy I am to have found them, a long and difficult task – but I found them, I never gave up, ever. I know this is a brief message, but just at this moment it is difficult to express my and the puppies emotions, Thank you once again to you all, I could not have found them without your support, Caroline
ORIGINAL POST
Now aged 5 weeks old the thieves were caught on CCTV at 2.13am entering the breeders property. They had cut through several barbed wire fences and a 6 foot fence as well as smashing their way into the puppy room in the kennel to get them. The mother was left behind. |

Benny
is a 16 month old Red and White entire bulldog male who was taken from
his kennel during the night 2/3 March 2008 in Northallerton,Yorkshire.
The owner realised he was missing when she went to let him out the
following morning.
She had previously been approached by two men with Irish accents who claimed they wanted to buy Benny and take him to Ireland, they'd asked if they could meet at a petrol station. She ignored the phone calls, and Benny went missing the following night. In order to get to where Benny was sleeping they had to scale both a neighbours fence and the owners fence (both 6ft high) and the entire episode seems to have been very carefully planned. If you have any information please contact Bulldog Rescue: 0871 200 2450 / BulldogRescue@btinternet.com or the owner: 07933517684 / lienkart@aol.com Benny is not microchipped. There is a reward for his safe return. Local press have been informed |

| This happened in Scotland to an elderly lady who advertised her 9
month old bulldog for sale in the local paper. The woman was
subsequently visited by a woman in her thirties, approximately 5'6"
tall, well dressed with blonde hair and what has been described as a
"large mouth". She was well spoken with a Scottish accent, claiming to
be an x-bullmastiff breeder from Airdrie. She was accompanied by a three
year old boy and her husband who was in the car. After 20 minutes the
woman asked if she could show the dog to her husband and to show she was
"genuine", left her handbag, two rolls of money which she claimed was
£2000 in cash and placed her phone and her keys on the table. She left
the house with the dog and was never seen again. The rolls of money were nothing more than cut up newspaper with a £20 note around each bundle, the mobile phone was old and switched off. It is obvious that she has pulled this scam before so if you live in the Strathclyde area of Scotland and have a dog advertised DO NOT let anyone leave before you have received full payment - no matter how trustworthy they appear.

BULLDOG BITCH STOLEN (05/3)
- UNSOLVEDPOSTED 6th JUNE 2005 |
| A fawn and white, 18 month old,
spayed bitch was taken in the night of Wednesday 1st June 2005. Thieves
broke into her kennel in Llanelli, Wales, ignoring 2 French Bulldog bitches,
taking just the bulldog. She requires medication for a low red blood cell
count so it is imperative she is found. Her owner asks that whoever has her just takes her to Llanelli police station and promising that no further action will be taken. I have just spoken to Mrs Davies who confirms
that her puppies were returned last night by the police. They have
arrested 3 youths; 2 men and a girl of about 18 years old. The dogs
were in Cardiff and they think it is the same people that visited
the south London Breeder but are NOT connected to the couple in
Bridgend who were mistakenly accused of being involved.
Thank you to everyone that helped spread the news Tania
2 Bulldog puppies were stolen from their kennel over the bank holiday weekend in Carmarthen, South Wales. It is suspected that they were taken by people that had viewed them earlier that weekend who came back and took the roof off the kennel to take them. One dog and One bitch aged 4 months old, the dog is white and brindle pie and the bitch is white with a red spot on right ear, she has a medical condition so it is imperative she is found. Updated 3 May 2005: Breeders are warned to be extra vigilant following the theft of the two puppies in Carmarthen, South Wales as Bulldog Rescue has been informed by another breeder in South London that 2 men matching the description of the men that viewed the Welsh pups also visited her to look at her pups. They also contacted another breeder in Coventry but never got as far as visiting the pups as she didn’t like the sound of them, it's possible that they are working through the Kennel Club Puppy list and adverts placed in free ad publications. In both cases there has been two men, one of which is very red in the face and sweats profusely, looking agitated during the time he is in the house. They call from a mobile phone and have upto 2 other people with them in the car, one of which is a girl. They admit that they are driving around the country looking at litters and seem particularly interested in white puppies. They visited the South London Breeder in a black convertible car. If you think you have been approached by these men please let us and your local police know, if you think you have already had your pups viewed by these men please increase your security and do not leave your puppies unattended at any time. |

A 9 year
old Bulldog male has been stolen from his back garden in Kitts Green, Stetchford,
Birmingham today.
He is white, with a red patch over his right eye and a red spot in

He *may* have been taken by people in the Ladywood area of

he could be anywhere.
There is a reward for his safe return. His owners are naturally

fence panel to gain access to the garden, and broke the lock on the boy's kennel/run gate
in order to take him.

This was back in May 1999 - Bonzai, a 9 month old male bulldog was in the garden with his owner at their home in Sheffield. Whilst the owner went back into the house to make a cup of tea the dog disappeared. The garden gate was padlocked shut and the dog was tethered, the leather lead was cut and the dog lifted over the fence, the owner suspects he was being watched as he had left the dog for no more than 5 minutes. Bonzai is brindle with a white patch on his eye, the bottom of his legs are red. He is not microchipped or tattooed. Even though it's been a few years now there's a chance that someone bought this dog and may recognise the description. Any information should be reported to Bulldog Rescue or to the owner on 0114 2377975 |

Two bulldogs have been
stolen from a back garden in Penarth, Wales on Friday 20th July.
Wanda is a 5 year old fawn bitch and her 3 year old son Benson is red - both are nutered and the bitch has a green tattoo in her ear. The dogs are suspected to have been taken by "pikies" who were tarmarcing a neighbours drive (for cash). They had admired the dogs when taken out for a walk at lunch time and when the owner arrived home again at 4.30pm both the tarmacers and the the bulldogs had disappeared. The tarmacing gang were driving a grey transit van. If you have any information at all please telephone the distraught owner (Phil) on 02920 551365 or email Bulldog Rescue Photos will hopefully follow shortly. Please keep your eyes peeled, especially if there are any travellers currently settled near you. |

Dudly was stolen on the 31st May from his back garden in Battersea and subsequently sold by Gypsies in Stretham, London for £300 - luckily the chap who bought him realised the dog he had was the same one being postered as stolen, panicked - and took him home on Saturday (23rd June). A little underfed and sporting a cigarette burn on his back, Dudley is otherwise fit and well and very very happy to be back with Philip his owner. Philip has asked me to thank everybody who helped keep an eye out for him. The "buyer" has been reimbursed and part of the balance on the reward has been pledged to Bulldog Rescue. Please pass the good news onto anyone you know who helped in Dudleys search.

"Shindig" a
white bulldog bitch with a black patch on her back and eye has gone missing in the
Chester-le-Street area. She ran off whilst out walking and could not be found, they
suspect she has been picked up by someone. The area has been flyposted and the
rescue centers have been informed, if anyone has any information at all please contact:
Clare Horseman on 07949 115104 - please be sensitive, they've already had crank calls.
Shindig is not microchipped but I think her unusual black markings will make her stand out
if anyone has noticed that the man next door has suddendly acquire a bulldog.

An 8 month old puppy dog was stolen from Alverston, Derby yesterday evening, from the owners back garden! They dragged it away with her clothes line! The police have been informed as have the RSPCA and all local vets, and they are trying to get some media coverage. The puppy dog is red and white with a mainly white head. Answers to the name of "Barny". His owner is Mrs Weston Tel 01332 2751510 |
The stolen puppy was handed in to the police
at 11.30pm last night! It seems after the media (radio & Local paper) cover it was too
hot to handle. From what I have been told he is in good condition
Thank for your help

On
Monday 22nd March 1999 three Bulldogs, one male, one pregant bitch and one older
overweight bitch were stolen from their Kennel in Northumberland. At approx 10.30pm
Monday 29th March the thieves returned the older bitch to her home, we think they thought
she was also pregnant due to her size but took her home when they realised that she
wasn't. |

A similar attack took place 5 years later on Sunday 1st June 2008 (and if you read the article above a similar attack took place 5 years before too!).
A man walking his 2 bulldogs in a park in Brentwood, Essex, was approached by 2 men with Irish accents demanding that he give them his dogs. Refusing to release their leads, one of the men slashed him 16 times across his arms and legs and then picked up the bitch by her harness, even though the man still had hold of her lead. Seeing what was happening the male dog attacked the assailant knocking him to the ground and biting his leg, at this point both men got back in their van and drove off empty handed.
