Yes children do come first but they also need to learn how to take life's knocks and bumps, keeping them permanently apart could not only give your dog reason to resent your child but could also give your child a reason to be fearful of dogs. If you are not prepared to let your dog be part of your family then you're better off not getting one just yet.
