It's a shame that you selected that option as in today's world of obsessive cleanliness our children don't develop a decent immune system. By having a dog around whilst they grow up helps build a healthy immune system which gives your child a better chance of naturally fighting off bugs and colds as they develop. Besides, keeping them permanently apart could not only give your dog reason to resent your child but could also give your child a reason to be fearful of dogs. If you are not prepared to let your dog be part of your family then you're better off not getting one just yet.
