THE BULLDOG RESCUE
ANNUAL AWARD FOR
OUTSTANDING
CONTRIBUTION TO
BULLDOG WELFARE

Do you know someone that deserves our annual award?

Good breeders are recognized in the show ring, outstanding bulldogs qualify for the Bulldog of the Year award, but what about those that work quietly behind the scenes, ensuring the welfare of this breed is safeguarded. We know that there are many people outside of the rescue service that really care about bulldog health, welfare and reputation and it is these people that we are looking for. If you know someone that has gone that one step further in really caring for their breed -  then tell us!!

Nominations are taken from September through to July for our award which is awarded at our annual Bulldog Picnic.

PAST WINNERS

Nigel Holmes

2007

In 2007 we awarded our second award to Nigel Holmes from Sheffield for his fund raising efforts made through out the year.

Nigel spent almost every weekend stood outside of various superstores in the Sheffield area shaking a collecting tin. At the time of being presented with his award he had collected over £2000.00 - an effort that is very much appreciated.

Nigel travelled all the way down to West Sussex on 2nd September 2007 to the annual bulldog picnic especially to receive this very special certificate.

Thank you Nigel

Susan Jay

2006

This first award was presented to Susan Jay who the trustees felt has given a life time to the breed. Secretary to the London Bulldog Society, show judge and breeder, Susan gives almost every spare moment to the breed, attending almost every Breed Council meeting, supporting new comers to the breed and making herself available to members of the public at all hours of the day and night, I'm sure there's been many a time when getting up in the early hours to set up a London show has posed the question why, and I know that her first job following her release from hospital after her recent cancer scare was to get 400 show schedules in the post. But she does and always gives the bulldog breed 100% in everything she does. She was quite taken aback that she should be the one to win this first award and commented herself that she was unusually speechless, but she very much deserves it and we hope that Susan can continue to give the bulldogs all she has for many years to come.
